Hi there! Try my free crochet pattern for a “Llama with Headphones”. This cute llama is fun to make and perfect for gifts or your collection. While it’s a bit detailed, my step-by-step guide makes it easy. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, you’ll love making this llama. Grab your yarn and hook, and let’s get started!

This pattern is written using US terms and is worked in continuous rounds, unless stated otherwise. If you use different hooks and yarns sizes you may have to change safety eyes accordingly. Using the listed materials the plushie will be around 15 cm tall and 10 cm wide. (It also depends on your tension).

Materials :

• 4.5 mm hook

• 12 mm safety eyes (Buy here)

• Fiber fill (Buy here)

• Yarn needles

• Chenille yarn 100 gr./120 m. (Buy here)

• MR – Magic ring

• CH – Chain

• SC – Single Crochet

• INC – Increase

• DEC – Invisible Decrease

• FLO – Front loop only

• BLO – Back loop only

• T – Turn your work

Muzzle

In pink.

Make a chain of 4 ch, start in the second chain from the hook.

Rnd 1. 2 sc, 3 sc into the corner stitch (the last one), continue working on the other side of the chain, 1 sc, inc. (8)

Rnd 2. 8 sc (8)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Embroider the nose with some thin black cotton.

Legs x 4

Start in pink.

Rnd 1. 8 sc into MR (8)

Rnd 2. in BLO 8 sc (8)

Change to white.

Rnd 3 to 5. (3 rounds) 8 sc (8)

Stuff with fiberfill.

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Ears x 2

In white.

Make a chain of 5 ch, start in the second chain from the hook and make 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 slst. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Body (from bottom)

In white.

Make a chain of 12 ch, start in the second chain from the hook.

Rnd 1. 10 sc, 3 sc into the corner stitch (the last one), continue working on the other side of the chain, 9 sc, inc. (24)

Rnd 2. 2 inc, 8 sc, 3 inc, 10 sc, inc (30)

Rnd 3. (1sc, inc) x2, 8 sc, (1sc, inc) x3, 10 sc, (1sc, inc) x1 (36)

Rnd 4 to 5. (2 rounds) 36 sc (36)

Change to pink to make the tail.

Rnd 6. 1 BBL , change to white 35 sc (36)

Rnd 7. (1sc, dec) x 3, 18, (1sc, dec) x 3 (30)

Rnd 8. (1sc, dec) x 3, 12, (1sc, dec) x 3 (24)

Rnd 9. 3 dec, 12 sc, 3 dec (18)

Start to fill with fiberfill and continue to fill as you go.

Rnd 10 to 16. (7 rounds) 18 sc (18)

Rnd 17. (1sc, dec) x 6 (12)

Put safety eyes between rounds 15/16, 3 stitches

apart. Before to secure them, put the muzzle on with a pin to check the position.

In the next round we will crochet the bangs.

Rnd 18. 5 dec, 1 sc, pull the thread utill you have the desired length. Remove the hook and insert it again in the same stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull trought the loop, pull the thread untill you reach the same length of the first one. Repeat 2 more times for a total of 4 strands. Insert the hook one more time in the same stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop and make 1 dec with the next stitches. Fasten off leaving a long tail. With a yarn needle, insert the tail in the FLO of the stitches left, then pull firmly to close it.

Collar

In green.

Make a chain of 30 ch, this should fit around the neck. Due to your tension, the size may change. Please add or remove chains if needed.

Link the end with the start of the chain with a slst, ch 3 and work down the chain starting in 2nd ch. from hook making 1 Hdc, 1 slst. Make a slst in the next stitch and repeat the pattern for the second leaf. Close with a slst.

Strawberry headphones

The headphones will be worked in rows. You will turn your work (T) and ch1 at the end of every row.

In pink.

Row 1. Make a chain of 2 ch, start in 2nd ch from hook and make 1 inc (2)

Row 2. T, ch1, 2 inc (4)

Row 3. T, ch1, sc all around. Change to green

Row 4. ch1, 4 sc (4)

Row 5. T, ch1, 1sc, skip 2 stitches , 1 sc (2)

Row 6. T, ch1, skip 1 stitch, slst.

Make 2 of them, fasten off one and for the other one, after row 5, continue making a chain of 9 and attach the other part. (You can make more or less chains if required, you can measure it on the head) Fasten off.Do not stuff.

Assembly

  • Put the collar on.
  • Sew the muzzle between rounds 14/16 and fill it with fiberfill while sewing.
  • Sew the ears on rnd 17.
  • Pin all 4 legs on the bottom as shown in the picture and sew them.
  • Embroider some white seeds on the headphones then, with some pink yarn, sew them on both sides. The green part should be behind the ears.
